For the 2024 application cycle, we will offer 4 advanced positions to begin on July 1, 2026. We will be accepting applications through Electronic Residency Application Service. All applications must be received through this program. We require the following:
- USMLE Step 1
- USMLE Step 2 CK (recommended but not required) There is no minimum score.
- 3 Letters of recommendations- at least 1 dermatologist letter
- Participation in research (any medical specialty)
- Dean’s letter
- Transcripts
We are committed to training a dermatology workforce that reflects the rich diversity of race, gender, religion, national origin, ethnicity, age and sexual orientation found in the unique community of New Orleans.
Each application is reviewed by faculty members of the review committee with emphasis on holistic review. Interviews are by invitation only and 2 interview days are held in January each year. Residents participate in the recruitment process during interviews.
For the 2024 application cycle, interviews will be in-person. Interview dates are Friday, January 10, 2025 and Saturday, January 11, 2025.

We strongly encourage all of our applicants to consider the Tulane Internal Medicine Preliminary Medicine program. Tulane Preliminary residents who are pursuing Dermatology work in the Tulane Dermatology clinics every 5th week of their intern year. You gain important skills about navigating patient care within the Tulane and University Medical Centers. This equates to 12 weeks of dermatology exposure during your preliminary year!
