Preventive Medicine Residency - How To Apply

 

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the residency you must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or hold a J-1 Visa. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited medical school, passed STEP Exam 1 and both STEP 2 exams, and be eligible for a medical license in the state of Louisiana. Applications are accepted through the ERAS universal application for residency only.

If accepted prior to your start date, applicants will be required to: 

  • Have completed at least one year of ACGME accredited clinical training (PGY-1) in the U.S. with a minimum of 11 months of direct patient care (i.e., provision of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to patients).
  • Either completed a Masters in Public Health at a CEPH accredited institution or have been accepted to the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and
  • Passed the STEP 3 exam.
Application Process

To be considered for the Tulane University Preventive Medicine Residency Program, two applications are required:

  1.  ERAS Universal Application for Residency. The Tulane Preventive Medicine Residency Program ID is 3802121014.
  2. The School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine application, submitted through the Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS)
Materials Required after Acceptance

Copies of the following documents are also required and should be submitted by mail to the address below.

  • Copy of current unrestricted state medical license
  • Copy of internship or residency certificate of completion
  • Summative evaluation of internship training from clinical program director (if you have not completed a full residency)
