Dr. Nakeisha Pierre

Welcome to the Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) Chapter at Tulane School of Medicine!

GWIMS is an accredited AAMC Affinity Group with the mission to advance the full and successful participation of women in all roles within academic medicine by addressing:  gender equity, recruitment and retention, awards and recognition, and career advancement.

Tulane’s GWIMS chapter, established in August 2018 with support from the Tulane SOM Dean's Office, advocates for these shared goals by providing a space for promotion of dialogue surrounding what it means to be a woman in medicine and science, supporting the health and wellness of our medical community, and creating recognition, mentorship and networking opportunities. We are proud to serve as a resource and provide guidance for search committees, deans and department chairs to promote faculty recruitment and career advancement practices that are inclusive of women.

We invite your active participation as a member! Tulane GWIMS is open to ALL students, residents, and faculty interested in promoting and developing clinical and basic science women leaders in medicine and science. Join today!
