Easy-to-build lab web page templates debut at SoM

The dozens of clinical and basic science laboratories at the Tulane University School of Medicine are places where researchers and learners collaborate, discover, and inspire. But science needs an effective communication tool to be able to share scientific advances, recruit students and lab staff, and inform potential new collaborators about a lab’s expertise.

Now each SoM lab can share its projects with people around the world with the debut of easy-to-build webpages.  The design process involved faculty, trainee, and student input along the entire development cycle: resulting in easy to use and customizable pages designed for anyone, even someone with no web skills, to be able to create a web presence for their science.

The lab templates were created by Patton & Schachte, the company that also envisioned the Tulane Doctors and Engage Tulane sites. In addition to internal Tulane faculty, staff and students, the designers conducted interviews with potential lab staff, collaborators, companies, investors and government entities to develop a template that conveys information effectively, easily and follows Tulane School of Medicine’s brand guidelines. 

A helpful wizard guides users through the process of building and editing the page, and there are customizable fields for lab members, grants, open positions and more. To get started building a lab page, fill out this form to request access.
