Welcome, and thank you for considering the Tulane General Surgery Residency Program!
At Tulane, we are committed to developing exceptional surgeons through rigorous clinical training, progressive responsibility, and accessible mentorship. Here, you'll find a resident culture built on our motto, "Each One, Teach One," where those ahead of you are genuinely invested in getting you there, too. Our residents care for a remarkably diverse patient population across New Orleans and the Gulf South, gaining the range required to manage complex surgical disease.
Resident wellness is central to our mission. Surgical training is demanding, and we are intentional about building an environment grounded in trust, open communication, and genuine camaraderie. We want our residents to grow not only as surgeons, but as colleagues, educators, leaders, and people.
Tulane Surgery trains surgeons who are ready to lead at the bedside and in the communities we serve. New Orleans will teach you resilience, humility, and how to operate with your whole self. I can't think of a better place to become the surgeon you're meant to be.
