Learning in Medical School

“BOOSTING STUDENT POTENTIAL FOR MEDICAL SCHOOL SUCCESS”

The Office of Medical Education of Tulane University is committed to supporting each student’s medical education experience and maximizing student potential for academic success. Our mission contributes to Tulane University’s School of Medicine’s mission by providing quality student-centered services that will help prepare the next generation of clinical and scientific leaders.

Our purpose is both education and support. Our student support services embed technology and adult learning practices. We teach students to think and to learn by offering guidance in educational learning strategies, time management techniques, and study skills methods. Additionally, we provide a variety of resources to ensure students succeed academically. Specific resources include: Peer Assisted Learning (PAL), Learning Specialist consultations, National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) self – assessments, and United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) preparatory materials.

Additionally, we familiarize our students with other medical school resources including health and wellness, diversity, disability services, and student organizations. Working in tandem, we instill in our students the concept of lifelong learning beyond medical school.
