Manning Family Children’s
In February 2019, we transitioned our primary clinical site to Manning Family Children’s, a Level IV regional referral center for children from across the Gulf South. This partnership brings together pediatricians and support staff from Manning Family Children’s, our colleagues at Louisiana State University, and our team at Tulane into a unique collaboration that provides exceptional care to some of the most vulnerable children in the country. Manning Family Children’s is expanding to meet the growing needs in clinical care and research for all children in the state - including expanding to a 60-bed Level IV NICU. Lakeside Hospital
Lakeside Hospital houses a Level III NICU and Mother-Baby Unit (with term newborn care) where our residents learn fundamentals in early life care of both typical and high-risk infants. Working alongside high-risk obstetrics with trained neonatal staff in-house allows our residents to experience both key transitions of care among subspecialists while streamlining the unique needs of parents and their newborns.
Academic Clinic - General Academic Pediatrics & Resident Continuity Clinic
Next to the hospital, we have our Academic Clinic, where our general academic pediatricians train our residents in fundamentals of primary care as part of their continuity clinic experience. Through carefully selected structured didactics and hands-on mentorship, our residents gain skills and proficiency in both fund of knowledge and how to best deliver high-quality preventative care. As a program, we believe this is the foundation of pediatric medicine.
Community-Based Clinics
Residents work in a variety of clinics to deliver medical care to children that otherwise do not get the care that they need. The Covenant House Drop-in Clinic, established to provide medical services to our unhoused pediatric population, is located on the edge of the French Quarter in the heart of downtown New Orleans. Job Corps is a career training program to prepare youth and young adults with the skills needed to successfully enter the workforce. Our residents also gain experience at Tulane's Ruth U. Fertel Clinic - another opportunity to see high-quality community-based healthcare delivered by Tulane's nationally renowned faculty.
