About Us

The Tulane Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences offers comprehensive addiction treatment services and is home to a prestigious, ACGME-accredited Addiction Medicine Fellowship led by Dr. A. Kenison Roy, III. This one-year program provides exceptional training in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of addiction and substance use disorders. Fellows gain expertise in managing addictions to nicotine, alcohol, prescription medications, and illicit drugs, as well as behavioral addictions such as gambling and compulsive overeating.

Through clinical rotations at regional facilities, fellows develop advanced skills in inpatient, residential, and outpatient care while participating in evidence-based didactics, Psychiatry Grand Rounds, and leadership training. Graduates are prepared to advance evidence-based clinical care, pursue academic leadership roles, and obtain certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Addiction Medicine.

The division, under the leadership of Dr. Ken Roy, is committed to improving lives through innovative care, education, and research in the field of addiction medicine.
