Do you have questions about COVID-19 (or Coronavirus)? Please join Tulane University School of Medicine for a Public Town Hall Q&A this evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Our panelists of medical and research experts will provide brief updates about the epidemic and then answer questions from the audience.

Our panelists include:

  • Dr. David Mushatt, M.D., a Tulane professor and head of Adult Infectious Disease at Tulane. Dr. Mushatt has been working on the front lines of prevention and treatment in this epidemic. He will answer questions about medical aspects of the disease, and about “flattening the curve” – using social distancing and self-quarantine to slow the spread of the disease.
  • Dr. Robert Garry, PhD., a Tulane professor and world-renowned microbiologist. Dr. Garry has mapped the genetic structure of this virus, and will speak about the origins and development of COVID-19.
  • Dr. Lisa Morici, PhD., Tulane professor and expert in vaccine and Adjuvant development. She will be able to answer questions about the research underway to develop vaccines to prevent COVID-19 in the future.
  • Dr. John Schieffelin, M.D., Tulane professor and head of Pediatric Infectious Disease at Tulane. He will be available to answer parent’s questions about how this epidemic is affecting our children.
  • Moderator: Sharon Courtney

The town hall will be online via Zoom and Facebook Live, and will be primarily a question and answer style format, with questions posed and moderated by Sharon Courtney.

You can submit questions for Sharon to ask in advance to somcommunications@tulane.edu, or submit them via ZOOM Q&A or Facebook Live comments during the broadcast – and we will feed those to Sharon in real-time.
