Loan Exit Session

Student's who borrow federal student loans are required to complete a Loan Exit Session during their T4 year. This assures that borrowers receive proper guidance on options for repaying student loan debt. The session will highlight repayment options, monthly payment estimates, possible loan forgiveness, and additional debt management strategies.

This mandatory graduation requirement can be satisfied via your successful completion of one of these three events:

  • Scheduling and meeting with your Tulane financial aid counselor via Zoom or in-person for a session; OR
  • Attending a School of Medicine IDS session on Loan Repayment and Debt Management during the 21-22 school year; OR
  • Participating in a one-on-one federal student loan debt management session with Dr. Jeffery Hanson via Zoom during the 21-22 school year.

*Note that aside from the aforementioned in-person session requirement you will also need to complete the online Exit Counseling tutorial found on the U.S. Department of Education’s website.
