Professionalism Program Peer Messengers

Peer Messengers are a crucial component of the Tulane School of Medicine Professionalism Program. Peer Messengers are faculty members who are trained to deliver supportive, reflective messages to colleagues when concerns about unprofessional or disruptive behavior are reported. Their role is not disciplinary or investigative; instead, they help promote self-awareness, reflection, and positive behavior change. Research shows that most professionalism lapses are isolated and can be improved with simple awareness. The Peer Messenger framework reinforces that idea by encouraging corrective action in a respectful, non-punitive way..
