Gastroenterology Fellowship Program

The Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program at Tulane is a three year ACGME-approved subspecialty program leading to competence in the independent practice of general gastroenterology. The curriculum follows guidelines for GI training set down by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Trainees will rotate among three main sites, all of which serve patients from New Orleans, south Louisiana and beyond.

Southeastern Louisiana Veteran's Healthcare System

Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS)

The 1.7 million-square-foot hospital is designed to accommodate the estimated 70,000 veterans in the region. Outside the gleaming grey glass and steel facade, a stone sign slung low across the ground reads, "The price of freedom can be seen within these walls." Present activities at the VA include inpatient services, outpatient clinics and outpatient procedures at the VA Ambulatory Procedures Unit (APU).

Faculty include individuals with expertise in general gastroenterology, hepatology (especially liver transplant), advanced therapeutic endoscopy, and inflammatory bowel disease. The diverse faculty also include those with many years of practice in both private and academic settings. Fellows will have an opportunity for exposure to all of these disciplines. They will also have the opportunity to be involved with clinical and basic research.
