Tulane Center for Advanced Medical Simulation & Team Training
About the Sim Center
The Tulane Center for Advanced Medical Simulation and Team Training gives medical students, residents, practicing physicians, nurses, technicians, first responders and other healthcare providers the opportunity to learn and perfect the latest techniques and best practices for patient care and safety.
An integral benefit of the Sim Center's effectiveness is the ability to take training beyond individual tasks to incorporate team training and multidisciplinary full system training. The real-life environment allows healthcare providers to move as a team through initial assessment in an ER, to procedures in the OR or Labor & Delivery and end with long-term care in the ICU or patient hospital room.
The Tulane Sim Center features 14,000 square feet of real-life environments and meeting space for hands-on training, instruction and skills assessment.

Our Courses
Tulane Sim Center offers three types of life-saving courses delivered in both traditional classroom and blended learning formats: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). BLS covers CPR techniques for all ages, AED use, and relief of choking. ACLS focuses on managing adult cardiac arrest and other emergencies through active, team-based simulation training. PALS equips pediatric healthcare providers with the skills to manage critically ill infants and children for better outcomes. While we do not host HeartSaver CPR, AED, and First Aid courses on-site, we’re happy to refer you to a certified instructor—just call us at 504-988-9150.
The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course prepares healthcare providers to respond effectively to cardiac arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies through hands-on, team-based simulation training. Participants build skills in basic life support, early management of peri-arrest conditions, cardiac arrest response, treatment of ischemic chest pain, acute coronary syndromes, and stroke, while learning ACLS algorithms and effective team dynamics.
HeartCode™ BLS is a flexible, self-paced online course that meets all American Heart Association requirements for BLS certification. Complete Part 1 online anytime, then visit the Tulane Sim Center during business hours to finish Part 2 with a skills test using a voice-assisted manikin. Upon passing, you’ll receive your BLS Provider card on the spot. The $90 course includes interactive scenarios, instant feedback, and the full AHA BLS manual. To get started, contact us at 504-988-9150 or simcenter@tulane.edu.
PALS HeartCode is a blended learning course from the American Heart Association that combines a self-paced, online component with an in-person skills assessment. Designed for healthcare providers, the course teaches advanced life support skills for managing critically ill infants and children. After completing the interactive online portion, learners schedule a hands-on skills check at the Tulane Sim Center using a voice-assisted manikin system. Upon successful completion, participants receive an official AHA PALS Provider certification card.
