HeartCode at Tulane Simulation Center

American Heart Association HeartCode certification

HeartCodeTM is an interactive, self-directed training course that meets all requirements of an American Heart Association certification course. HeartCode is the newest training option from the AHA and gives you your valuable time back. You complete the classroom portion online on your own time. After successful competition of the online assessments, you will complete your skills checkoff on a computerized mannequin at the Simulation Center.

BLS certification in two steps

  1. On your own schedule, complete the Part 1 cognitive portion online, including patient scenarios and a multiple-choice exam. 
  2. At the Tulane Simulation Center, during business hours, complete the Part 2 skills test administered by a voice-assisted mannequin. 

HeartCode BLS includes basic life support lessons, two interactive patient scenarios, one adult and one infant case, and the full BLS for Healthcare Providers manual from the American Heart Association.

ACLS certification or re-certification in two steps

  1. On your own schedule, complete the Part 1 cognitive portion online, including patient scenarios and a multiple-choice exam.
  2. At the Tulane Simulation Center, during business hours, complete the Part 2 skills test administered by a voice-assisted mannequin.

HeartCode ACLS includes ten interactive patient scenarios, pre-course self-assessment, team dynamics lesson, and the full ACLS for Healthcare Providers manual, 2005 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, and ACLS Core Drugs.

PALS certification or re-certification in two steps
