Gastroenterology & Hepatology
Chiefs Welcome
On behalf of our dedicated team of clinicians, educators, and researchers, I am pleased to welcome you to the Tulane Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section, a proud part of the Tulane School of Medicine’s Deming Department of Medicine. We are honored to serve our community by providing exceptional care, advancing medical knowledge, and training the next generation of leaders in gastroenterology and hepatology.
Our clinical faculty are committed to delivering expert, compassionate care at some of the region's most respected healthcare institutions, including University Medical Center New Orleans, East Jefferson General Hospital, and the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System. Through these partnerships, we are able to offer comprehensive treatment across a wide range of gastroenterological and hepatological conditions, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
The section is also home to an ACGME-accredited fellowship program, which accepts three fellows each year. Our fellowship provides hands-on experience with a diverse array of complex conditions, including liver transplantation. Fellows benefit from close mentorship by our distinguished faculty, as well as from the opportunity to engage in a wealth of clinical and research experiences.
In addition to our clinical expertise, our faculty members are deeply involved in groundbreaking research and clinical trials. From liver disease to gastrointestinal cancers, we are at the forefront of developing innovative treatments and improving patient outcomes. Our research spans multiple areas of gastroenterology and hepatology, with a focus on translating scientific discoveries into clinical practice.
As we reflect on the section’s long history of excellence in patient care, education, and research, we are proud of our many accomplishments and the lasting impact we have made in our field. Yet, we are equally excited about the future, with plans for continued growth, advancement, and innovation in all aspects of our work.
Thank you for visiting the Tulane Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section. We look forward to collaborating and partnering with our local, regional and national colleagues as we strive to improve the health and well-being of our patients while shaping the future of our field.
Sincerely,
Sarah Glover, DO, AGAF

Digestive Research and Education Excellence Aimed at Muted and Special Populations (D.R.E.A.M.S.)
DECEMBER 5–6, 2025
The meeting will be presented in person and virtually.
This live activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit
The activity is aimed at enhancing the education of healthcare providers on the best practices in the care of muted and special patient populations. The activity is designed to strengthen research efforts to improve the outcomes of these special populations by hearing from leading experts from the gastroenterological space with specific interests in these populations. We aim to recognize research excellence in reflective physician investigators in the field, as well as physician investigators with a research focus in muted and special populations. It is our hope through the focus on these groups the gastroenterology community would get a better understanding of disease characteristics, progression, and prognosis in muted special populations.
