Community Engagement and Service

Med-Peds Community Service

Our residents will tell you that the best part of training at Tulane is engaging with the people of New Orleans. That engagement takes many forms; residents perform home visits aimed at addressing mental and behavioral health concerns, precept in Tulane student free clinics, hold health education events, develop community resource directories, and participate in community cultural events. Many of the communities in our city are historically marginalized and under-resourced, but also culturally rich and welcoming, and our program aims to provide residents with ample opportunities to both learn from and serve those communities inside and (perhaps more importantly) outside the walls of our health care systems.
