About us

The Tulane Parenting Education Program (T-PEP)-Family Resource Center, a program within the Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, provides a setting in which Tulane staff offer psychoeducation, parenting, and support services to families referred by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). T-PEP Resource Center is made up of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, family educators, parent partner, kinship navigator, and trainees.

The Tulane Parenting Education Program (T-PEP) represents providers from a variety of disciplines who are committed to providing a holistic approach to service provision, with the goal of understanding historical, cultural, and environmental contexts for child maltreatment and family dysfunction. Read More.

T-PEP provides support and primary prevention for families at risk for child welfare involvement and work toward alleviating the risk of maltreatment for families and extended families involved with the agency. T-PEP works collaboratively with community providers, including Medicaid providers, to ensure that all families receive services in a timely manner.

Clients served by T-PEP will receive a comprehensive needs assessments and resource linkage, prior to beginning formal parenting assessments, with the goal of ensuring that basic needs are adequately met prior to engaging in specific parenting interventions. T-PEP strives to support children in the context of their family systems by supporting biological parents, relative caregivers, and fictive kin, through implementation of the Parent Partner Program, Kinship Navigation and through collaboration with the Region I My Community Cares.
