Biography
Hometown: Gansu Province, China
Lulu Xu earned her Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Dalian Medical University (2017-2021) and my Master's degree in Biology from Beijing Jiaotong University (2021-2024). Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Informatics at the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Genomics, Tulane University School of Medicine.
Research
My research focuses on multi-omics studies of complex diseases, with a current emphasis on DNA methylation in osteoporosis and sarcopenia. I investigate epigenetic mechanisms underlying these conditions, aiming to identify key methylation patterns and their implications for disease progression and therapeutic targets. Additionally, I have conducted research in metagenomics, exploring gut microbiome and metabolomics in relation to lifestyle factors such as sleep, milk consumption and obesity. Moving forward, I aim to integrate GWAS databases and single-cell approaches with various omics layers, including transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, to develop analytical methodologies for comprehensive association studies and deepen our understanding of disease mechanisms.
