Amitabh Pandey, MD

Biography

Dr. Pandey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tulane University and received his MD from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Arizona, where he was Chief Resident.  He completed his Cardiology Fellowship training in the research track at Scripps Clinic, where he served as Chief Fellow during his fellowship and became a KL2 scholar on the CTSA award to Scripps Research Translational Institute.  He was also awarded the AHA Career Development Award. Additionally, Dr. Pandey has won several teaching and research awards, and has a great interest in medical education.

 

Dr. Pandey’s research focuses on understanding the role the genome plays in atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. His lab uses single cell assays to better elucidate the molecular mechanisms at play in cardiovascular diseases, to be able to potentially identify novel therapeutics. Dr. Pandey’s clinical research projects look to increase the use and applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in clinical cardiology, with applications in electrocardiology, echocardiology and other areas.

 

Dr. Pandey’s clinical practice mirrors his research focus. He is a general cardiologist who is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and has a clinical emphasis in preventive cardiology. He uses clinical tools to promote primary and secondary prevention with digital health, incorporating genomics into clinical practice for better risk assessment and management.

 

Before coming to Tulane, Dr. Pandey was an Assistant Professor of Molecular Medicine and a physician-scientist in the Division of Cardiology at Scripps Research Institute and Scripps Clinic.
