Dear neurology applicants: Thank you for your interest in our program. We are hopeful you are remaining healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. We recognize the impact the pandemic has had on away rotations and obtaining letters of recommendation, as well as the cancelation of USMLE Step 2 testing. We strive to approach this application cycle with a focus on a holistic evaluation of the applicant, using all available resources.
Ideal Residency applicants:
Candidates must have passed all the United States Medical Licensing Education (USMLE) steps including CS (if you have taken it prior to the Step 2 CS postponement) on the first attempt. An ideal candidate would receive USMLE scores above 210 on Step 1 and 230 on Step 2, however we will consider all passing scores in the application review process.
Only IMGs with status in the U.S. will be considered. Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate is not required to interview, but ideally is on file when rank list is submitted. We acknowledge the process and timeline for ECFMG certification is different this year and will evaluate each application on their merits as long as they have applied for certification. J-1 visa sponsorship is available
Ideally, IMGs should have at least one year of clinical experience in the U.S. with three months of Neurology, and at least one LOR from a supervising U.S. Neurologist. However as opportunities for US experience have been limited due to COVID 19, we are asking for letters of recommendation that can accurately describe an applicant's clinical acumen if no US rotations have been completed. Good command of English language required
An ideal candidate has graduated from medical school within the last five years but this can be considered on an individual basis if all other criteria are met and the candidate is exceptional.
Applications to our program will be accepted and reviewed starting early October 2022. The deadline for accepting applications to our program is December 31, 2022. We begin interviews late October 2022 and end in January 2023. Secondary to the global pandemic, all interviews will be conducted online.
Our interviews are on Mondays and applicants are encouraged to meet our residents for a casual online gathering the Sunday evening prior. The interview day begins around 9:30 am CST and will end by 3:00 pm CST.
We do not offer pre-match positions, observerships, or externships.
Applications for positions in our program are accepted through ERAS only.
