Match Day 2022 brings students and families together

Match Day is the culmination of four challenging years, and, in some ways, is the most exciting day of the medical school experience. The process begins in the fall of the final year of medical school. Students first apply, then interview with the residency programs of their choice. Applicants and program directors rank each other in order of preference and a computer matches the students with their residencies. Every year at a predetermined time, medical students across the country learn simultaneously which hospital will educate them for the next three to seven years.

Students gathered with their parents, friends and some School of Medicine faculty at The Capital on Baronne for Match Day 2022. This was the first in-person Match ceremony since 2019, and the excitement could be felt throughout the large hall. 185 Tulane medical students matched with residency programs around the country and 31 of those future doctors will continue their training in Louisiana.
