Tulane menopause researcher takes the international stage at BIO 2025
Tulane University’s Heddwen Brooks, PhD, Chair of the Department of Physiology and a nationally recognized expert in women’s health and menopause research, will be part of the team representing Tulane School of Medicine at the 2025 BIO International Convention, the world’s largest gathering of the biotech industry.
In addition to taking BIO Partnering meetings, Brooks will speak on the Bullpen panel “Introducing Academic Entities: Where Ground-Breaking Research Meets Real-World Impact," a session exploring how institutions like Tulane are driving discoveries that improve health and accelerate the development of novel treatment on Tuesday, June 17 at SmartLabs Seaport; and she will also be part of the “Aquillius | Innovation in Women's Health Pitch Showcase” on Wednesday, June 18.
With a research career spanning decades, Brooks is known for her contributions to understanding the effects of aging and hormone loss on women’s health, particularly during menopause. Her work is helping redefine how this stage of life is approached in both clinical care and research innovation.
Brooks’s presence at BIO underscores Tulane’s growing role in shaping conversations at the intersection of academic research and biotechnology. The conference draws more than 20,000 global leaders from pharma, biotech, academia, and investment.
