Tulane’s Tony Hu Receives National Recognition for Excellence in Clinical Diagnostics

Tulane University’s Tony Hu, PhD, has received the 2025 Academy Award for Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Chemistry from the Academy of Diagnostics and Laboratory Medicine—one of the nation’s highest honors in clinical diagnostics. Hu, who leads the Center for Cellular & Molecular Diagnostics at Tulane, was recognized for his pioneering work in developing innovative diagnostic tools, including portable and blood-based tuberculosis tests and CRISPR-based detection methods for infectious diseases. His work aims to expand access and accuracy in pediatric disease diagnostics and reflects Tulane’s growing leadership in impactful biomedical research.
