Biography

What is your hometown?
Lincoln, NE

What are your career goals?
I am interested in either pursuing general outpatient internal medicine-pediatrics or adult congenital heart disease. I love the challenge of working with patients on their overall healthcare and helping provide them with preventative healthcare. I also think that the heart is one of the most fascinating organ systems and love working with the congenital heart disease population.

What are the strengths about Tulane's program?
I have found the patients to be one of Tulane's biggest strengths. It is a diverse population that has a wide variety of medical needs and conditions. As a resident, I have had the opportunity to treat both common and rare diseases which I feel will help prepare me for practice beyond residency. Tulane also has a strong dedication to education. Between Friday School and afternoon delight, there are plenty of opportunities for learning. The attendings in both the hospital and clinic setting are also very good about spending time educating and reviewing cases.

What's your relationship like with your co-residents?
There is a strong relationship between co-residents within our program. I have had the opportunity to get to know my fellow Med-Peds interns and upper levels well over the first couple months of residency, even with COVID. I have also had the chance to develop some strong relationships with fellow interns and residents within the categorical programs. I think that is one of the many perks of being Med-Ped's is that you get to know a wide variety of people from both the internal medicine and pediatrics side.

What advice would you give to someone moving to New Orleans?
New Orleans is an incredible place to continue learning medicine and a wonderful place to live. My biggest piece of advice for anyone moving from out-of-state would be to come in with an open mind and be willing to put yourself out there. New Orleans has so much to offer in terms of culture and experiences, you just have to be willing to put yourself out there and be willing to try things you have never tried before.
