These programs are offered in the Departments of:
Two-Year MS Programs (Applications open September 1st)
Two-year, research-intensive MS programs are designed to enhance the academic credentials and scientific research experience of graduates and prepare them for careers in academic or industrial research.
The MS in Anatomy Research program is a 2-year thesis program of study of gross anatomy, embryology, cell biology, and histology leading to a Master of Science degree in Anatomy by research. It is designed specifically for candidates who wish to develop research careers in biomedical science and medical education.
The MS in Anatomic Pathology (Pathologist Assistant Program) is a rigorous two-year, full-time professional master’s degree designed to train advanced practitioners in anatomic pathology. Accepting 8–12 students per year, the program combines 80 credit hours of didactic instruction and hands-on clinical experience. The first year focuses on foundational sciences and surgical pathology, followed by clinical rotations—including autopsy and surgical pathology—throughout the country in year two. While the core curriculum is required, students may also pursue optional electives tailored to individual career goals. Graduates earn a Master of Science in Anatomic Pathology and are prepared to enter the field without the requirement of passing a certification or licensure exam.
The MS in Clinical Anatomy degree is a 2-year non-thesis program of study of cadaveric dissection-based gross anatomy, embryology, cell biology and histology, and neuroscience leading to a MS degree in Anatomy. It is designed specifically for candidates who wish to develop careers in teaching and research in the anatomical sciences.
The Tulane MSCR Program is a structured program leading to a MS in Clinical Research degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine. It usually requires 2 to 3 years to complete the curriculum including the mentored research requirement.
The MS in Clinical Research Methods with a concentration in Pre-Surgical Training (MSCRM+) is designed for medical school graduates who seek familiarity with the fundamental techniques of clinical research with a particular interest in surgery. It is a two year full-time program consisting of 58 credits, with courses offered in a lecture and seminar format. The student would be a resident of the New Orleans area and pursue the curriculum full time.
The two-year thesis-required program, MS in Biochemistry and Applied Bioinformatics leads to a Master of Biomedical Science in Biochemistry and Applied Bioinformatics degree. Our distinctive program emphasizes student development in five areas to broaden and strengthen their academic foundation, and equips students with basic and advanced lab and Bioinformatics skills for a career in academic or industrial research.
The MS in Bioethics and Medical Humanities is a 33-credit hour program, completed in either one or two years, resulting in a Master of Science in Bioethics and Medical Humanities degree. Students in this program will carefully examine ethical issues in medicine and how to best resolve them, and how the practice of health care is affected, improved, and better understood through humanities-based studies in narrative, history, and more.
The MS in Molecular and Cellular Pathobiology is a full-time two-year thesis-based post-baccalaureate program leading to a Master of Science in Molecular and Cellular Pathobiology. This program, in the Department of Pathology, is designed to enrich the scientific research experience and improve the academic credentials of students interested in careers in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in academia.
The MS in Biomedical Informatics is a four-semester program designed to enrich and improve credentials of graduates to apply for Biomedical Informatics analyst, data scientist, or other healthcare-related profession career.
