Faculty Development & Leadership

Leadership & Career Development Programs for Faculty

Tulane University School of Medicine is committed to improving human health and fostering healthier communities through the discovery, translation, and application of scientific knowledge; the delivery of exceptional patient care; and the education of the next generation of clinical and scientific leaders. As faculty, you play a central role in advancing this mission—whether through teaching, research, clinical practice, or service.

In your work educating future physicians and scientists, you contribute to a dynamic and highly regulated academic environment that upholds the highest standards in medical education. Faculty engaged in the educational mission are expected to align with institutional objectives, including the School of Medicine’s Institutional Educational Program Objectives, and to adhere to the policies, procedures, and accreditation standards that guide medical education and LCME compliance.

At the same time, the evolving landscape of academic medicine presents complex leadership challenges. Faculty are increasingly called upon to lead interdisciplinary teams, drive innovation, and navigate organizational change within multifaceted academic health systems. These responsibilities require skills and perspectives that extend beyond traditional academic roles.

To support faculty in meeting these demands, Tulane offers a range of leadership and career development opportunities. These programs are designed to enhance leadership effectiveness, foster professional growth, and cultivate the competencies needed to lead successfully in academic medicine. Below is an overview of available leadership development programs at Tulane, along with select external opportunities. Please note that programs sponsored outside the School of Medicine are provided for informational purposes only and do not imply endorsement by the University or the School of Medicine.
