Biography
Dr. Zhang is a research assistant professor at the Division of Biomedical Informatics of Tulane University since 2024. Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Xidian University in 2014. From 2014 to 2022, he was a faculty member at the Department of Automation, Chang’an University, China. In 2022, he became the chair of the new energy science department at Chang’an University and was a full professor before his appointment at Tulane. Dr. Zhang has a multidisciplinary training background in computational mathematics, computer science, bioinformatics, imaging genetics and biomedical imaging. He has over 10 years of experience in applied mathematics, machine learning, statistics, medical imaging and bioinformatics. His research interests broadly involve data science and machine learning, with applications in computational biology and neuroscience research. He is now focusing on designing innovative machine learning and deep learning models with multi-modal / omics / site / scale data to discover significant biomarkers and study complex genetic mental illness.
