Biography
Dr. Kelly has conducted extensive research to elucidate the genomic mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic phenotypes, such as blood pressure, lipids, obesity, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. More recently, Dr. Kelly has begun broader trans-omics research of these conditions. She has served as PI or site-PI of several NIH- and AHA-sponsored projects. Some of her current research includes a whole-exome sequencing study of diabetic nephropathy among participants of the Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort, a study to explore the influence of the microbiome and metabolome on subclinical measures of vascular aging among participants of the Bogalusa Heart Study, and a whole-genome sequencing study of blood pressure related traits in the NHLBI’s Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine Whole Genome Sequencing Program. Her research efforts have yielded 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
