Biography
Name: Michael Conner
Hometown: New Orleans, LA
Residency Program: Tulane University School of Medicine- Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Resident Year
Medical School: LSU New Orleans
Undergraduate: University of Georgia
Post-Fellowship Plans: As I enter my first year of fellowship, I am currently undecided on my plans clinically. I am interested in either general GI or advanced endoscopy, but I am open to other options as well. My long-term career goals include working in New Orleans/surrounding areas. I would like to work in medical education again at some point in my career.
Things I enjoy about New Orleans: Growing up in New Orleans, I have always loved the culture here and everything that defines it- the people, festivals, restaurants, music, local sports teams, and all the outdoor activities around the Gulf Coast.
Extracurricular Activities: I love spending time with my wife and daughter. We enjoy walking around Audubon Park, visiting the zoo, working on crafts in the backyard, and any other activity that takes place outside. I also enjoy spending my free time playing different golf courses around the city with friends, running in Audubon Park, and biking on the levee path.
What I like about Tulane GI: As a resident, I was impressed by the collegial atmosphere across the Tulane GI team. Everyone is always welcoming and willing to take the time to teach their colleagues, including the fellows and the staff. Given our appropriate trainee autonomy, diverse patient population, commitment to education, and training at 3 different hospital systems, I am confident that Tulane GI will prepare me for my career after fellowship. I look forward to continuing to treat our underserved patient population and all those that make the city of New Orleans so incredible.
