Biography

Dr. Gillette is an academic hospitalist for the Southeastern Louisiana Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SLVHCS). He provides acute care for hospitalized veterans and inpatient consultations for point-of-care ultrasound and medical procedures at SLVHCS.  Prior to his medical education, Dr. Gillette was a Peace Corps Volunteer working on HIV and prevention-of-mother-to-child-transmission of HIV in the Republic of Botswana. He has subsequently worked in Nepal and India and is passionate about global health equity. He teaches global health and mentors residents in the global health track.  Dr. Gillette has a Bachelor’s in Music Composition from the Hartt School and regularly writes music for New Orleans theater.
