Biography

Dr. M. Matias Iberico is an academic hospitalist at University Medical Center-New Orleans and Tulane Medical Center. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco. He then spent two years as a UCSF HEAL Initiative Global Health Equity Fellow, rotating between Fort Defiance, Navajo Nation and Mali where he worked with the non-profit operational research group Muso. While in medical school Dr. Iberico was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study tuberculosis in Peruvian peri-urban slums and used that research to complete a master’s degree in public health. He is passionate about global health equity and his interests include medical education and community health worker centered health systems strengthening.
