Biography
Dr. Dale Shamburger grew up in Alabama along the Gulf Coast. He received a Bachelor of the Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder with two majors in Molecular Biology and Spanish. After college, he spent a year in New Orleans with his future partner, while she attended Loyola. He attended medical school at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed residency training in internal medicine at the University of Colorado and a one-year combined Global Health-Hospital Medicine fellowship at the same institution.
Dr. Shamburger joined the Section of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics in 2019 and works as a hospitalist at UMC. He has a strong interest in improving the quality and value of the healthcare system in the United States. His other interests include appropriate use of IV access devices and medical education in global health/health equity. He is a co leader of the GIM quality council that spans our three clinical sites. He also is a co-director of the Tulane Resident Initiative in Global Health (RIGHT) program.
