Jennifer Bass, MD

Dr. Jennifer Bass is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics and joined the Section of General Internal Medicine in 2021 as an academic hospitalist at University Medical Center and Tulane Medical Center. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

Dr. Bass completed a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology at Stanford University and received her medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School. During medical training, she spent a year at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as an Applied Epidemiology Fellow with the Poxviruses and Rabies Branch. She went on to complete residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University. She spent two years as a UCSF HEAL Fellow rotating between clinical work on the Navajo Nation and programmatic work with Last Mile Health, a community health organization in Liberia. She then continued to work for the Indian Health Service in Gallup, NM, as a hospitalist and outpatient provider, also serving as the acting medical director and COVID response leader for Tohatchi Health Center.

Dr. Bass is passionate about delivering patient-centered medical care and the advancement of global health equity through education, public health, and healthcare system innovations.
