Claire Fitzgerald, MD

Dr. Claire Fitzgerald is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and joined the Section of General Internal Medicine in 2023 as an Academic Hospitalist at University Medical Center and Tulane Medical Center. She was born and raised in New Orleans and completed her undergraduate degree in evolutionary biology at Harvard University before returning back home. She received her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and simultaneously completed her Masters of Public Health in 2014. Dr. Fitzgerald completed her residency in internal medicine at Tulane, where she served as a chief resident.

Interests:

She is interested in addressing health disparities, particularly in the unhoused patient population. Other interests include health policy, harm reduction, medical education, and curriculum development.
