Biography
Dr. Josh Huddleston was born in Texas and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Southern Adventist University near Chattanooga, TN, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and met his future wife, who was from Louisiana. He knew he would never leave the state if he followed her south, but that’s just what he did, and it was the right choice. He worked as an RN in an inpatient setting at Baton Rouge General and later at North Oaks in Hammond while completing prerequisite requirements for medical school. He then went to LSUHSC New Orleans for his medical degree and then decided to stay in town for residency training at Tulane. During his 3rd year of residency, he received UMC’s “Tulane Resident of the Year” award.
Dr. Huddleston joined the Section of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics directly from residency and is working as a hospitalist at both UMC and TMC. He has a strong interest in improving communication between physicians and ancillary staff, previously receiving the Spirit of Charity award in 2019 for efforts to improve the labyrinthian on-call contact system to make it easier for RNs to page the correct resident. When not at the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his three children and rooting for the Pelicans.
