Biography
Shekinah Gleason is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Louisiana State University Health and Sciences Center in 2012. Shekinah pursued her master’s degree after five years as a Registered Nurse. She earned her undergraduate degree from Charity School of Nursing in 2008. Shekinah’s nursing background includes a focus in medical, surgical and oncology nursing. As a Nurse Practitioner with Tulane Doctors-Connected Care, she follows patients in nursing homes, skilled facilities, hospitals, and private homes. She is trained to treat the whole family from infancy to the elderly. Additionally, Shekinah is a Nurse Practitioner with Hospice Association of New Orleans where she provides supportive symptom management, end-of-life care, and emotional support to patients and their families.
Shekinah has a passion for education and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Nursing Education. Currently, Shekinah holds licensure from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. She mentors/precepts Nurse Practitioner students. Shekinah is a certified CPR instructor through American Heart Association. She volunteers and provide free classes to young and/or low-income families.
Shekinah holds memberships with Sigma Alpha Chi, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Sigma Theta Tau International and Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners (LANP).
