Biography

Dr Sciaudone completed his residency in internal medicine at Tulane and his infectious diseases fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joined the Tulane Division of Infectious Diseases in 2022. His main academic interest is in global health, specifically, the development of cheap, rapid, and easy-to-perform diagnostic assays in order to diagnose infectious diseases more quickly, accurately, and inexpensively in resource-limited settings. He is a former Fogarty Global Health Fellow and has been awarded the prestigious Burroughs Wellcome Fund/American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Postdoctoral Fellowship in Tropical Infectious Diseases. He is currently working on the optimization and evaluation of a novel diagnostic test for tuberculosis, and he plans to adapt the same platform to detect other pathogens that are difficult to diagnose in resource-limited contexts.
