Biography

Dr. Himmat Grewal graduated from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India. He then pursued basic science bench research at University of Colorado, Denver in the Neuronal Injury Program under the division of Anesthesiology studying molecular pathways of injury post stroke and cardiac arrest in a mouse model. Following this, he completed his Internal Medicine residency training and Chief residency at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, MA. Himmat completed fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical care Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY and is excited to join the team at Tulane where he will be mostly working in the Intensive care unit at University Medical Center.

Dr. Grewal is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and American Thoracic Society.

Dr. Grewal's interests include Critical care Medicine, application of bedside ultrasound in ICU / Pulmonary service, Interventional Pulmonology and Medical Education. He would like to pursue a career as a clinician-educator by sharing his skills and knowledge with the house-staff. His research interests include application of evidence-based medicine in decision making along with quality/performance improvement.
