Biography

Dr. Lee Michals is an addiction and psychiatry specialist, with decades of treating patients who struggle with substance dependence and co–occurring disorders. Over the years, Dr. Michals has worked in a variety of roles across the state as a director of an Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program psychiatrist, a professor of psychiatry-working directly with patients, leading teams, researching and teaching and sharing his experience with others. Dr. Michals is a graduate of Ross University and Tulane University and a current member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. The American Society of Addiction Medicine, the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association and the American Psychological Association. As an expert in his field, Dr. Michals is a sought after thought leader by the media, a frequent speaker at conferences and professional organizations on topics ranging from opiate induced central sleep apnea to living with AIDS.
