Biography
Amy E. Vaughan, MS, MD is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and currently acts as the OB/GYN Assistant Residency Program Director. Dr. Vaughan grew up in Largo, FL and attended Wofford College in South Carolina where she received a B.S. in Biology. She then came to Tulane Medical School, and earned a Masters of Science in Pharmacology. Next, Dr. Vaughan earned her MD and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tulane Medical School. While in medical school, she was very involved in educational and environmental organizations and also served as Chief Resident during her senior year. Dr. Vaughan spent the next 8 years in private practice in the New Orleans area, where she served as volunteer faculty for Tulane residents. Dr. Vaughan then practiced at Ochsner Hospital and Clinic as an OB/GYN Hospitalist for 4 years, working closely with patients and residents in the inpatient setting.
Dr. Vaughan is a breast cancer survivor and is passionate about helping patients achieve their best health. Her areas of particular interest are obstetrics and helping patients have a safe and satisfying delivery, menopause/hormone therapy and simulation training. She is comfortable working with patients who choose to expand their pregnancy/birth team with Doulas and more wholistic approach to care. Dr. Vaughan is active both with resident and student education while maintaining a private practice here at Tulane-Lakeside Hospital. She is an active member of ACOG - the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and SOGH – the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists.
Dr. Vaughan received her board certification from the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2011 and has maintained their high standards.
Dr. Vaughan lives in New Orleans with her husband, Dr. Ross Klingsberg, their 3 children and 1 tiny dog. They enjoy music, Francophone culture, outdoor festivals and biking.
