Chuan Qiu, MD, PhD
Research Assistant Professor, Biomedical Informatics & Genomics
Education & Affiliations
Biography
Dr. Qiu has broad and strong background in genetic, molecular genetics, biostatistics, and bioinformatics, with specific training and expertise in genetic and epigenetic studies of human complex diseases. He has accumulated extensive experiences in performing and coordinating a variety of research projects for musculoskeletal diseases/traits etc, e.g., osteoporosis and sarcopenia phenotypes, including genome-wide association studies, population- and family-based candidate gene association studies, genome-wide gene expression profiling studies, epigenomics profiling studies, and in vitro molecular functional studies.
He has expanded his research into multi-omics study, functional variation study, metabolomics study, and machine learning study. Particularly, he focused on a multi-omics causality and integration project for osteoporosis, which forms a solid foundation for pathogenesis of osteoporosis. In addition, he has focused on metabolomics study for sarcopenia.
