Biography

Dr. Ellis joined Tulane University School of Medicine as Associate Clinical Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

He received a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University. He attended medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine and completed an internship at Charity Hospital (LSU) in New Orleans in Medicine and Ophthalmology. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at Duke University (Wadsworth Eye Center). Dr. Ellis completed fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus with Marshall Parks (Children's Hospital DC), Zane Pollard (Hall Eye Center Atlanta), and David Guyton (Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins).
He has authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters. He has been an invited speaker at regional, national, and international scientific meetings.
Dr. Ellis has held numerous leadership roles in the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS), Southern Medical Association (SMA), Louisiana State Medical Society (LSMS), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Orthoptic Council (AOC), and currently is the President of Medical Association of Southeast Louisiana (MASELA).
