Biography

Dr. Sasha Vukelic joined the Section of Cardiology as the Director of Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology and the Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support.  He came to Tulane from Montefiore Hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.  He received an MD & PhD degree in Immunology from the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia. He then completed a post-doctoral degree in Autoimmunity and Inflammation from Weill-Cornell Medical College-Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.  He then completed a residency in Internal Medicine from the Zucker School of Medicine Hofstra/Northwell-Lenox Hill Hospital, and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Emory School of Medicine.  Dr. Vukelic further completed another fellowship in Advance Heart Failure and Transplant at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY.  Dr. Vukelic is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. He has an extensive publication record in elite peer review journals and is frequently invited to speak at national & international scientific meetings.
