Biography
Dr. Reily is an accomplished trauma surgeon whose career has been dedicated to the advancement of surgical care for emergency and traumatic injuries. He attended Tulane University, where he completed his undergraduate studies, medical school, and surgical residency. He completed a fellowship at The Ohio State University, specializing in managing trauma, surgical critical care, and burn injuries. Dr. Reily possesses a particular passion for chest wall injuries and rib fractures, a frontier with surgical and non-surgical options for suffering patients. He is also passionate about advancing robotic and minimally invasive surgery applications for emergency and traumatic injuries.
In the early years of his career as an attending surgeon at Tulane University, he played a pivotal role in elevating the institution's trauma services and training surgical residents. His leadership was further exemplified during his tenure as the Director of Trauma ICU at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, during that institution's transformation into a designated Level One Trauma Center.
In 2025, Dr. Reily returned to Tulane University as a Trauma Surgeon as the Associate Trauma Medical Director. His goal is to further enhance the trauma department's effectiveness at the University Medical Center New Orleans, training new surgical residents to the highest standard, and collaborative projects between the Tulane Surgery department and colleagues within the LSU Trauma department.
