Biography

Ms. Gershen is a licensed clinical social worker and board-approved clinical supervisor. Ms. Gershen’s interests are in adult psychotherapy with a focus on anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress, chronic illness, and peripartum mood and anxiety disorders. Ms. Gershen also enjoys providing therapy for medical students and residents. Ms. Gershen utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and supportive treatment modalities within in a systems theory framework to treat clients.

Ms. Gershen was educated at Tulane for her undergraduate and master’s degree programs. She was awarded the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from the Tulane University School of Social Work. After completing her master’s degree, Ms. Gershen worked in various capacities at Family Service of Greater New Orleans. During that time, she built her therapeutic skills in not only individual therapy but also in group therapy, psychoeducation, domestic violence intervention, anger management, and community education.

She was thrilled to return to Tulane in 2015 to help start the Tulane University Behavioral Health Clinic-Metairie.
