Biography
Dr. Rebecca Burke joined the Section of General Internal Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Hospice and Palliative Medicine in 2017. She works as a consulting physician at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System.
Dr. Burke received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She obtained her Medical Doctorate from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She returned to her home state of Texas to complete her residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, followed by her fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She received her board certification in Family Medicine in 2016. Dr. Burke is interested in advanced care planning, complex symptom management at the end of life, and academic advancement of the Palliative Care specialty.
