Biography
Dr. Esther Dupépé, a New Orleans native and a fellowship-trained pediatric neurosurgeon, completed her medical education at Tulane University School of Medicine after earning her M.S.P.H. from the Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. During medical school, Dr. Dupépé was a junior inductee into Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. She completed her residency in neurological surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery under Drs. Matthew Smyth & David Limbrick at St. Louis Children’s Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Dr. Dupépé has special interests in the treatment of a variety of neurosurgical conditions, including medically refractory epilepsy, spinal dysraphisms including spina bifida & tethered cord, brain and spinal cord tumors, Chiari malformation, traumatic head, and spine injuries, traditional open and endoscopic treatment of craniofacial malformation, intracranial hemorrhage & hydrocephalus. During her specialized fellowship training, she gained expertise with minimally invasive techniques for cranial surgery, including endoscopy, robotic-assisted neurosurgery, laser ablations, and selective dorsal rhizotomy to treat spastic diplegia under Dr. Tae Sung Park. Her research interests include clinical outcomes in neurosurgery with a special interest in post hemorrhagic hydrocephalus of prematurity. She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has presented at national neurosurgical conferences.
Dr. Dupépé is excited to move home to New Orleans to join Ochsner Health System, Ochsner Hospital for Children, and the Ochsner/Tulane Department of Neurological Surgery to provide pediatric neurosurgical care using the latest technological advances in the greater New Orleans and Gulf South region.
