Biography
Dr. Joseph Lockwood is a fellowship trained Skull Base and Cerebrovascular Neurosurgeon. He specializes in open and minimally invasive treatment of skull base tumors, brain tumors, and cerebrovascular disease. He also has special interests in spinal disorders, trauma, and general neurosurgical care.
Dr. Lockwood is a native of Stuttgart, Arkansas and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. He then completed his Master’s degree at Tulane University in Cell and Molecular Biology. Dr. Lockwood obtained his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, and his neurosurgery residency training at Tulane University/Ochsner Medical Center. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Skull Base and Cerebrovascular Surgery at the University of California at Irvine with Dr. Frank Hsu, focusing on minimally invasive microscopic and endoscopic techniques to treat cranial pathology.
His research interests include skull base and cerebrovascular treatment and outcomes, and anatomic feasibility of new surgical approaches.
