Akannsha Singh, MD

Biography

Dr. Singh brings with her a strong foundation in pathology, with specialized training in Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology.

During her residency at Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Singh distinguished herself through excellence in clinical performance and academic contributions. She was the recipient of the Nina Dhurandhar, M.D. Cytopathology Award in 2021, an honor determined by faculty vote that recognizes outstanding achievement in cytopathology. She also contributed to departmental education by presenting at Grand Rounds in December 2021.

Following residency, Dr. Singh completed the Cytopathology Fellowship at Tulane University in 2022, an ACGME-accredited program designed to prepare fellows for proficiency in all aspects of cytopathology. Through this training, she developed advanced diagnostic skills in the interpretation of gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens, and gained hands-on experience with the performance and interpretation of fine needle aspiration biopsies.

Now returning to Tulane as faculty, Dr. Singh continues her commitment to advancing the field of cytopathology and supporting the Department’s mission in education, patient care, and research.

Awards & Recognitions

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Akannsha Singh, who joined the faculty in October 2024 as an Instructor. Dr. Singh completed her residency training in Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology at Tulane University, where she was honored with the Nina Dhurandhar, M.D. Cytopathology Award in 2021. She went on to complete a Cytopathology Fellowship at Tulane in 2022, gaining extensive experience in diagnostic interpretation and fine needle aspiration biopsies.
