Biography

Dr. Shelby Montgomery Buckley is a board-certified psychiatrist with additional training in forensic psychiatry. Dr. Buckley received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She completed psychiatry residency training and a forensic psychiatry fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine. She is working at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System (ELMHS), the state forensic psychiatric hospital, where she treats patients who are admitted through the criminal justice system from parishes across the state. In residency, Dr. Buckley routinely taught lectures to both medical students and residents - and she has already contributed to Tulane's forensic psychiatry fellowship didactic series, as well. Dr. Buckley has two first author publications in the Journal of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. She is a member of the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association (LPMA) and previously served on the LPMA Executive Council as the Resident/Fellow Physician Deputy Representative for Tulane University School of Medicine.
